Ok guys so here we are! the Official Dark Noble Destiny Review!! I've been receiving messages about this almost constantly so I thought I would bite the bullet and review it, I am using information that We have known for a while aswel as what I have found out from playing the game! I will be reviewing each class and overall gameplay in different sections! I hope You guys enjoy it and find it Helpful. STORY:
Many generations ago (shortly after present day), the emergence of a gargantuan construct known only as "the Traveler" ignited a Golden Age of technology and exploration for humanity. Initially the Traveler settled on Mars, where it shared its knowledge and technology with humanity, and a city grew around it. With the assistance of the Traveler and its enigmatic technology, humanity tripled its lifespan, terraformed planets and moons, and expanded its civilization beyond Earth and throughout much of the solar system.
The Golden Age would last for centuries, but human civilization fell victim to a cataclysm of extraordinary magnitude, known as the Collapse. A malicious entity known as The Darkness, an ancient enemy of the Traveler, waged a campaign of destruction against civilization. Few managed to survive the devastation.Forced to withdraw to Earth, mankind's homeworld, the embattled sphere made its final stand, where it sacrificed itself to save the remnants of humanity. The Traveler is now silent and dormant, while those who survived united to build The City beneath it, establishing the last bastion of civilization in the solar system. A powerful defensive aura remains projected over the City by the Traveler.
The City has come under attack throughout the years, mysterious alien species probing its defenses for weaknesses. You are one of an army of warriors known as Guardians that call the City home, individuals that have taken a stand to reclaim what has been taken from us. Guardians have harnessed the Traveler's energy to create powerful abilities that allow them powerful offensive attacks, defensive counters, and increased mobility. Guardians seek to uncover the mysteries of humanity's downfall and reclaim what has been taken from them. These exploits lead them to rediscover and reclaim old worlds, once part of mankind's civilization but now occupied by deadly extraterrestrial species and threatened by the return of the Darkness.
The Guardians are all that stand between the dark forces that seek to destroy civilization and those who take refuge within the City. It is their duty to rebuild from the ashes of defeat, to ignite the once great flame of human civilization, and be the light that shines through the darkness. Their failure would mean the destruction of the human race.
PLAYER CHARACTER: GUARDIANS
The Guardians are the player characters of Destiny. They are a standing army of specialized soldiers tasked with the defense of the last city on Earth. They are also responsible for exploring the remnants of human society abandoned throughout the solar system and investigating the remains of their Golden Age of exploration. Guardians wage a vicious armed conflict against a myriad of extraterrestrial species who pose an immediate threat to the survival of humanity. The greatest source of the Guardian's power lies in their ability to harness the energy of The Traveler and use it as a weapon against their opponents.
When creating their character, players may choose to make their Guardian one of three species. Species is a purely cosmetic choice for players, affecting only appearance and not gameplay.
Human
Exo
Awoken
From left to right: Warlock, Hunter, and Titan.
Players choose to play as one of several different player classes. Though each player class in Destiny has a distinct appearance, dress, and skill set, player classes are designed to be balanced, with no class intended to be clearly better overall than any other. A player may choose to be any class, regardless of species, but each class can only access certain armor, subclasses, and abilities.Weapons are not class-restricted; any class can use any weapon.
Hunter: "Hunters once prowled the wilderness and wastelands, taking big risks for even bigger rewards. You're no outlaw (at least, not anymore) but making your own luck has always meant bending the rules." Hunters were once survivors that roamed the wastelands and wilderness making their own luck. Through manipulation of the Traveler's energies, Hunters learned how to survive in the wild. This heritage has led to their characteristic tendency of bending the rules to suit their particular situation. Being the trailblazersamong Guardian classes, Hunters serve as invaluable scouts when surveying hostile and dangerous territory combining their trademark daring and ingenuity. Some fear them as being too dangerous, but their bravery has led to many discoveries dating back to theGolden Age.
Titan: "You hail from a long line of heroes, forged from strength and sacrifice. Our enemies may be deadly and merciless, but so are you." The first Titans built and defendedThe Wall that protectsThe City.Their heritage is rooted in strength, sacrifice, and mercilessness.
Titans can be distinguished by their heavy, full-body armor and swept-back helmets. The Titan's unique armor piece is a badge, a piece of cloth worn on the right hip intended to show their allegiance, lineage, or achievements.
Warlock: "Warlocks have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose still remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown." Warlocks have long studiedThe Traveler, which gives rise to their ability to harness some of its powers. As the warlock advances through levels his arcane power strengthens. In appearance, Warlocks can be distinguished by their rounded helmets and long coats. As with the other player classes, in addition to head, chest, arm, and leg armor, they have a special fifth armor slot that is unique to their class and further helps to distinguish them from their brethren in arms. The Warlock's unique armor is a bond(armband) worn on the upper-left arm.
Any species may choose to be any player class.
Guardians also have access to a Ghost, an artificially intelligent flying robot that can assist the Guardian in tactical situations.
GAMEPLAY:
Bungie has emphasized that the universe of Destiny will be "alive." Events may happen in-game that are not necessarily controlled or planned by the developer, which will help to create a dynamic developing experience for Bungie and a dynamic playing experience for gamers. The game's style has been described as a first-person shooter that will incorporate massively multiplayer online game (MMO) elements, but Bungie has avoided defining Destiny as a traditional MMO game. Instead, the game has been referred to as a "shared-world shooter," as it lacks many of the characteristics of a traditional MMO game. For instance, rather than players being able to see and interact with all other players in the game or on a particular server (as is the case in many conventional MMO games) Destiny will include on-the-fly matchmaking that will allow players to see and interact only with other players with whom they are "matched" by the game.
In the end, what you get out of Destiny depends a fair amount on what you’re prepared to put in. The race to level twenty is over quickly, but only those prepared to grind after that for faction and light points will see the game’s most exotic kit and unlock it’s greatest challenges (the mighty, attritional six-player Raid only unlocks when you hit level 26 and requires exceptional kit to beat).
Similarly, simply playing through the campaign suggests a story that makes very little sense - only delving into the lore-filled Grimoire cards, unlocked as you progress, reveals the intricacies of the lore Bungie has created, and that’s far from ideal.
So for a game as massively marketed as this, Destiny perhaps isn’t for everyone, and those who are hoping only for an epic Halo-style campaign may be disappointed that that delicate balance of focus and grandeur isn’t quite matched in Destiny’s story machines.
But in every other way Destiny is Halo, but Halo on a bigger, far more multiplayer level, and with the addictive quest for loot of a game such as Diablo. For many gamers, including this one, that’s an utterly irresistible combination. For me.... well..... I'm still playing it daily and loving every moment!
I hope You guys have enjoyed the Review and will leave a comment or something below so I can add more about things You wanna know!
OK, so here We go, the most anticipated game of the year is here! Destiny, and I'm currently watching the opening film, it looks Beautiful on PS3, I can only guess what the next gen console graphics look like! I have just created my Character (an Exo) and no matter what design You have You still look bad ass! The voice cast in this game is just amazing! including the likes of Nathan Fillion, Peter Dinklage, Peter Stormare and Bill Nighy! some of my personal Favorite actors lending their voices to a game that so far has yet to let Me down.
Info Nugget: "The first known reference to Destiny was shown in Bungie's 2009 game Halo 3: ODST, in which a sign on a wall read "Destiny Awaits" and showed a picture of Earth with a mysterious orb floating nearby."
I love the story-line, I love the multi-player and I love the look, Ok, it's time for complete honesty, I wrote this game off as Bungie trying to relive their Halo days with a game that's basically the same and I am very happy to admit that I was majorly wrong, the numbers on sales came out this morning and it's a whopping $500 million Dollars..
What Bungie and Activision have made here is a Halo Killer, To go and destroy Your own game series with another is a bold move and well.... It's paid off! I'm addicted, the only reason I'm not playing it now is because I had to write a review... consider Yourselves very lucky I'm pulling Myself away from Destiny! Even the Music (By the legendary Martin O'Donnell!!) is amazingly addictive to hear as You are Playing!
Now at this time I am Level 7, I'm not majorly far in as I have been playing the Multi-Player more (which is addictive and I love the free for all) but I am already starting to feel the power of this game, the enemies are smarter then You think, they fight dirty one moment then they try new tactics, they keep You on Your toes constantly, I love that, as You level up so do they, becoming smarter and deadlier, I can see many hours spent playing this game, both alone and with a team, that's what this game is about, being a team player who can also be a lone wolf, sounds tough huh? well it need not be, just stay quick and stay ahead, I use stealth to sneak about and kick Alien arse!
So, now I am fully integrated with the Destiny controls and handling, I can say that it runs smoothly and smartly, the world moves with You and feels alive, the world is created so that random events happen, not planned by Bungie, so You never know what is going to happen! Seriously Guys, Try this game out! if You haven't got it already then get it when You can, this is going to be Game of the Year 2014! Anyway, I'm off to go and play more Destiny! see You in the field Guardians!
Now i'm going to be honest, i haven't really followed Destiny as i thought it was just going to be another attempt at Halo and i will gladly admit that i was wrong... Here is a summery of what we know so far.....
Destiny is set seven hundred years into the future in a post-apocalyptic setting following a prosperous period of exploration, peace, and technological advancement known as the Golden Age. In a universe where humans have spread out and colonized planets in the Solar System, an event known as "the Collapse" saw the mysterious dissolution of these colonies, the end of the Golden Age, and mankind teetering on the brink of extinction. The only known survivors of the Collapse are those living on Earth, who were saved by "the Traveler," a white, spherical celestial body whose appearance centuries before had enabled humans to reach the stars. The Traveler now hovers above the last safe city on Earth, and its presence allows the Guardians — the defenders of the City — the ability to wield an unknown power, only referred to as "The Light."
Upon mankind's first attempt to repopulate and reconstruct after the Collapse, it is discovered that hostile alien races have occupied mankind's former colonies and civilizations and are now encroaching upon the City. The player takes on the role of one such Guardian, and is tasked with reviving the Traveler while investigating and destroying the alien threats before humanity is completely wiped out.
Instead, the game has been referred to as a "shared-world shooter,"as it lacks many of the characteristics of a traditional MMO game. For instance, rather than players being able to see and interact with all other players in the game or on a particular server—as is the case in many conventional MMO games—Destiny will include on-the-fly matchmaking that will allow players to see and interact only with other players with whom they are "matched" by the game.
Destiny will incorporate a new game engine that allows global illumination and real-time dynamic lighting to occur together. In addition, Bungie's goal is that Destiny will natively render graphics at 1080p on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.Although, it was recently confirmed by Bungie that the Destiny Beta for Xbox One will not be running at 1080p, their goal is to have that version 1080p by launch. The PS4 Destiny Beta will be running in 1080p. An innovation in Bungie's "hopper" technology, which has been the backbone for Halo's matchmaking system, will allow better player matchmaking in order to create a more natural experience in either cooperative or competitive multiplayer modes.
Players will be given the opportunity to create a character, choosing both a race and a class. Unlike choosing a race, choosing a class has a massive effect on how Destiny is played and on character development. Each class has its own 'focus', which is a special ability that can be used in co-op missions and competitive matches to turn the tides in the player's favour. These focuses' abilities can be offensive, defensive, or buffing (for the player's three-man 'fireteam'). The most effective ability of a focus is called a 'super,' which is a skill move that a Guardian can use in battle. Each super has an upgradeable skill tree.Based on the Destiny Reveal ViDoC, it appears players will have the ability to create multiple characters of different species and classes.
Destiny will center on the journey of the Guardians, the last defenders of humanity, set to protect Earth's last city. Guardians will be divided into three distinct races: Humans, Awoken, and Exo. Humans are described as being relatable, tough, and uncomplicated. Bungie drew its inspiration for the Human race from the military, and the character designs and aesthetics of the Spartans present in their Halo franchise. Awoken, described as exotic, beautiful, and mysterious, were inspired by fictional depictions of elves, vampires, ghosts, and angels. Exo are described as being sinister, powerful, and tireless. Exo were inspired by the undead, Halo's Master Chief, and the titular character of The Terminator. The playable races will be purely cosmetic and will have no effect on the game mechanics of Destiny.
Players will also be able to choose a "class" to go alongside their race. There are three classes available to players in Destiny: Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans. Hunters are a reconnaissance class meant to be reminiscent of the classic "bounty hunter." Bungie cites as influences Star Wars's Han Solo and classic characters from old Western films such as Clint Eastwood's Man with No Name. Warlocks combine weapons with special powers from "the Traveler," and are meant to be a form of "space wizard." The Warlock class is influenced by the Star Wars series's Jedi Knights, The Lord of the Rings series's Gandalf, and The Matrix series's Morpheus. Titans, which favor heavy weapons and melee attacks and are intended to be reminiscent of the classic "future soldier," were inspired by Bungie's own Master Chief from Halo, Stormtroopers from Star Wars, and other "space marines" from science fiction. The players will be accompanied by Ghosts, a robot AI voiced by Peter Dinklage (YES! TYRION FUCKING LANNISTER!!!)
I'm currently Downloading it so it's ready for release date tomorrow! can't wait for this! i will be writing up a review very soon after i've had some hands on time! Keep an eye out guys!
